Elizabeth Gregorash passed away at Minnedosa on June 6, 2019 with family at her side.
She was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Elaine, parents John and Mary Bachewich as well as siblings Andy, Sylvia, Florence, Martha and Ina.
She was born August 6, 1931 in the Sandy Lake area and lived there until she got married. After her marriage, she lived on a farm near Lake Audy where she raised six wonderful children then moved to Minnedosa in 1994.
Liz loved gardening, giving gardening advice and identifying our mystery plants. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, co-op word puzzles, reading and watching curling. Her creative side was evident in her sketching and paintings. She was kept busy knitting baba socks for her children and grandchildren.
We had many large family celebrations at her house with lots of delicious Ukrainian food. (Sure miss those perogies, Mom.) After dinner, we would play a few games of samba which was always a blast. She always kept the 8’s so we could not make a samba.
Mom especially enjoyed her lengthy phone conversations and laughter with her sister Ruth. Mom will be missed by her children. Georgina Southall, Garry (Dianna) Gregorash, Norman Gregorash (Janet Pelrine), Bev (Neil) Soroka and Darlene (Danny) Nechwediuk.
Liz had a great rapport with her grandchildren. The grandchildren will certainly miss baba’s wit, sense of humour and laughter. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kara (Chris) Brownlee, children Carson and Keaton, Trevor (Nicole) Southall, Troy (Tracy) Gregorash, children Levi and Seth, Trista Gregorash, son Christian (Trista’s partner Rod), Travis Gregorash, Lee (Jerry) Sweeney, Terra (Chris) Goodyear, children Isla and Cecilia, Shauna (Kyle) Szczerba, children Naomi and Roman, Ryan Soroka, Devin Soroka, Tanya Nechwediuk (Tish), Carla (James) Klug, children Sophia and Maci.
She is also survived by her sisters Ruth and Lillian Usick and brother Bob Bachewich.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Minnedosa Cemetery, as per her wishes.
