Fern Baldwin, beloved wife of the late Ivan Baldwin, if Carberry, Manitoba passed away peacefully on the morning of Aprill 22, 2019 at the Carberry Hospital at the age of 91 years.
Fern was born in Carberry on May 28, 1927 to Josephine and Henry Charles Banister. Henry worked with his father W.A. Banister in the Western Hotel. The Hotel was located where the Bank of Montreal is today. W.A. Banister owned and operated the Hotel 1910-1956.
When the Nelson Hotel was built, Henry Banister was the hotel bookkeeper there for many years. Fern Banister married Ivan Baldwin on June 17, 1950 in the Carberry Anglican Church. After the wedding they honeymooned in Minneapolis. They then took up residence in Melfort, Saskatchewan where Ivan ran the Drive Inn Theatre until 1969.
They then moved back to Carberry to retire. Fern had three boys: Gary, John and Robert. Robert was taken in a motorcycle accident in 1985.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Carberry Cemetery with Reverend Chris Evetts officiating.
