Mallorie Harper Obituary

Mallorie Ruth Harper

July 22, 1953 – January 7, 2020

Mallorie passed away on January 7, 2020 at the age of 66 in Country Meadows Personal Care Home, Neepawa. Mallorie was born July 22, 1953 in Neepawa to Sture and Ruth (Thompson) Forsman.

Mallorie’s work career started as a student in school. She was employed at the Macleod’s store and in the kitchen at East View Lodge. After her schooling she took the Nurse’s Aide course and worked at East View Lodge for several years. Mallorie then decided to take the one-year bookkeeping course at Assiniboine Community College and in July 1977, after completing the course, she was hired at the Neepawa Land Titles office for the next 35 years, retiring in December 2012.

Mallorie had many interests, one being history. She organized two different celebrations both of which took place in the summer of 2005. One celebration was for the Land Titles 100th Anniversary and the other was in honour of the unveiling of the cairn for the Sinclairville School. Mallorie was also on The Beautiful Plains Story history book committee from 2006-2008. Mallorie loved photography, gardening, needlepoint, travelling and spending time with friends and family. The family have many fond memories of their years on the farm where they enjoyed skating on the dugout, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, quadding, biking, hiking and so much more.

Mallorie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shawna & Joe Kelly and their son James; son, Derek & Mary and their children Bodie and Lila; son, Curtis; daughter Janis & Derek McKelvy and their daughter Kara; three brothers and their families, Ron & Norma; Doug & Jean; and Don & Liz; Harper family, friends and co-workers.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Country Meadows Personal Care Home, who provided Mallorie with wonderful care for the past 5 years. The kindness and compassion shown to Mallorie was a great comfort to all her loved ones.
