Marvin Abe Rempel of Shilo, Manitoba passed away January 18, 2020 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, Manitoba at the age of 88 years.
Marvin was born in Beaver Flat , Saskatchewan on December 10, 1931. He was the seventh child of a family of 13.
At age of 15 he travelled alone by bus to be reunited with his family who had left at an earlier date with his younger siblings to the Austin, Manitoba area. It was in the Austin area that he met Sarah Dyck and they were married in 1954.
Marvin had many occupations but mostly carpentry and ranching. He was in the PMU industry for many years and his son John continued on the ranch when Marvin and Sarah retired. They moved less than a mile away on a small acreage and moved again to a house in Douglas when Sarah passed away. Marvin moved into the Shilo Inn and using his carpentry skills converted part of the motel into suites were he lived until entering the hospital just before Christmas. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah and is survived by 4 sisters, his 6 children, Alice ( Danny) Hogan, John ( Gayda) Rempel, Karen (Mark) Paddison , Doug ( Tracy) Rempel , Elaine ( Frank Siemens ) Rempel ,and Kelvin Rempel, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at the Assiniboine Centre and The Brandon Regional Heath Centre for the excellent care given to our very special Dad, Father in Law , Grandpa and Great Grandpa.
He will be missed.
