On January 3, 1928 Alice (Cooke) Peters was born in Isaac’s Harbour, NS. She was the first born in a family of fifteen. After her there were fourteen brothers and sisters. Brothers Howard, Albert, Douglas, Cecil, Bud, Allan, David, Jackie, Raymond and Arnold with sisters Florence, Joyce, Ileen and Verna.
Alice lived at home till her early teens then decided it was time to strike out on her own and get a job. Her first job was at Morris’s Chocolate Factory in Halifax. After a short time there she joined up with Bill Lynch’s Midway. It was there she met her husband Lawrence Peters. Shortly afterwards they were married. When Alice and Lawrence decided to have children they decided to settle down in Charlottetown, PEI. They had two children, Wayne and Linda. Lawrence got a job at the telephone company and Alice became a wife and homemaker. They resided there until Lawrence retired. In 1983 they moved to Manitoba and lived on the farm with their daughter Linda and her husband Walter. When country living became too much for them they moved into Carberry.
Mom loved to knit, sew, crochet, bake and garden. She also loved to talk about God’s Kingdom everywhere she went. Mom made friends everywhere she went. She was always noted as a snappy dresser. Never afraid to speak her mind which she did quite often, whether you wanted to hear it or not. That was just Mom.
She leaves to mourn her son Wayne (Elsie) and her daughter Linda (Wayne) – two granddaughters Suzanne and Belinda – five great grandchildren Megan, Dylan, Chris, Alana and Colton – three great-great grandchildren Dryden, Alora and Sophia Lyn.
Mom’s mind was as sharp as a tack but it was her body that failed her.
Your presence is a reminder of your love, care and concern. The family wishes to thank everyone for your thoughts, kindness and prayers.
