Allan John Melcosky of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away on October 29, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer at the Brandon Assiniboine Centre, with his family at his side. In the weeks leading up to his passing, he was deeply supported by close friends and confidants, including Dale, Kate, Misti, Maggie, Susie, Gaytan, Armando, and Debbie whose care and companionship helped him face the many challenges of his final days.
Allan was born to the late Peter and Matilda Melcosky on February 18, 1964. He was the youngest brother of Shirley Selewich, Elsie (Bruce) Ray, the late Pat (Terry) Storozuk, the late Earl (Lori) Melcosky, and the late Eleanor (Dave) Marnock. Allan was a PROUD uncle to many nieces and nephews. He had a very special bond with Denise, Bryan, and Angela.
Allan faced many complex challenges throughout his life, but he fearlessly embraced the world’s adversities head on. Allan began his education at Minnedosa North School and Tanner’s Crossing; eventually completing part of Grade 11 at Minnedosa Collegiate. Allan was more interested in hands-on learning. His culinary journey began at an early age at the Valley Motor Lodge and the original Uncle Tom’s in Minnedosa. He later moved to Winnipeg, securing a position at the renowned Baked Expectations for 10 plus years and Parker’s Wharf. With a change being needed, he headed off to start a new and exciting life in Toronto and later Vancouver. He LOVED T.O.!!! Eventually, he made his way back to Minnedosa and then to Brandon.
Being a vibrant soul, Allan loved fun, entertaining, and cooking gourmet meals for those whom he cared about. He had a gift for connecting with people. He had a great appreciation for fashion and loved to connect and talk about fashion…at a level beyond the average person’s knowledge. Allan wasn’t afraid to start a conversation with total strangers, and he rarely failed to find some unexpected connection through a family member or a friend. He always liked to share a laugh with his family and friends. It was these moments that he cherished greatly! He always shared a memorable phrase with his family and friends … ‘It is what it is’, ’You go, girl!’ or his most famous, ‘Chat, you later’!
At Allan’s request, a private service will be held for family and friends in Minnedosa at White’s Funeral Chapel.
