We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our mom and sister, Beverly Jane Zariwny (Strahl) on February 27, 2024 at her home. Bev’s passing leaves to mourn, her 2 sons Braydon and Brody (Ana); her 2 grandchildren Lucas and Nora; her 3 step grandchildren Alexis, Connor and Owen; her sister Lesley (Chris), and brothers Rick (Judy), Wilf (Lillian) and Bruce; plus nephews, nieces and many friends.
Bev was born and raised in Minnedosa. She was the 5th of 6 children born to Ellis and Bernice Strahl. After high school, Bev and her future husband, Don Zariwny lived in Thompson, MB for a few years before moving to Calgary, AB. Then tragedy brought them home to Minnedosa. There they married and had their 2 boys. Bev became a Telephone Operator, like her mom, and worked for MTS for many years until they closed the Minnedosa Office. Bev then began working at the Minnedosa Legion, where she spent many happy years. Bev was still working 6 days a week until she passed, and loved it.
Bev had a lifelong love of animals and had a horse, Scout, growing up on the farm, plus many dogs over the years, but none held her heart like Abe & Rex, “her boys”, who both just recently also passed away.
We cannot express how much we will miss her, her many funny quirks, her warm personality, and most of all, her love. Bev’s love for her boys was incredible and the void left for them will be immense. Please hold them in your hearts.
Bev was predeceased by her mum, her dad and her brother Don and nephew Brian.
Special thanks to Heather Doerksen for helping us navigate this difficult time.
A family burial will be held at a later date as well as a celebration of her life at the Minnedosa Legion.
