Blair Alexander Buchanan, born May 2, 1955, age 68, formally from Eden Manitoba passed away with his wife at his side on September 10th in Victoria Hospital after an extended battle with illnesses. He is survived by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Buchanan, wife of 41 years Cathy; Daughter Tara, husband Nathan and grandchildren Christopher and Noelle; Son Blaine, wife Caity and grandchildren Harllie and Bryson. Brother Lyle, wife Kim and family and brother Dean, wife Nola and family. Blair was predeceased by his father Roy (Butch) and niece Brittany as well as his uncle and aunts.
Blair grew up in Riding Mountain where he made lifelong friendships and attended school both here and in Kelwood. Blair lived in Brandon, Riding Mountain and eventually settled outside of Eden Manitoba where he lived until entering the hospital in Winnipeg where he remained until his passing. Blair enjoyed playing baseball in the summer and curling in the winter.
Blair was a hard worker and was employed with Manitoba Telephone Systems (MTS), Gardewine and F. Kozak and Sons Ltd over his lifetime. He also helped run a sawmill with family members and enjoyed the time he spent operating it with his family. Even after the sawmill, in his later years you could find him whittling on the deck.
Blair was an outgoing man with great stories and would do anything for his friends and family, but unfortunately illnesses in his later years caused him to distance himself from those connections. Our family is grateful to know that Blair is finally at peace.
Services will be held at Riding Mountain Cemetery on October 14th at 11:00 am, followed by lunch afterwards at the Riding Mountain Hall, all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Palliative Care Program of your choice.
