Carl Bialas Obituary

On August 26, 2024, in the Minnedosa Hospital, at the age of 88, Carl passed peacefully with his family surrounding him, holding his hand and admiring his strength. 

Carl was born at home on the farm, in the R.M. of Harrison, on March 28, 1936, the last of 6 children born to John & Annie Bialas. He received his education at Martindale school near Sandy Lake & Clear Lake school near Onanole. Carl met his wife to be Marlene Sedgwick at a dance in Bethany & they were later married on April 26, 1958.They had 2 children; Son Carl Darcy, born July 26, 1966 & Daughter Tracy Ann, born June 18, 1969.

In 1958, Carl worked building Manitoba Pool Elevators and then for North American Lumber in Minnedosa.  In February of 1966 he started working for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a Brakeman/Conductor. Carl retired from the C.P.R. in September of 1995, after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed Golfing, Curling, Camping, Fishing, Hunting, helping people and spending time with family & friends.

Carl was very proud of the number of years of volunteer work he did for the Minnedosa Golf Course & the Minnedosa Legion Branch #138.

The shining star in Papa’s life, his grand-daughter Teagan Marlena Bialas was born June 10, 2001, she stole his heart that day & he loved every minute with her.  She kept him on his toes & had him wrapped around her finger from day one!

Carl is predeceased by his Father John & Mother Annie Bialas; Brothers & Sister-in-laws: Mike (Teenie) Bialas, Nick (Helen) Bialas; Sister & Brother-in-law: Jean (Mike) Nechwediuk, Brother-in-law Mike Jawa; Father & Mother-in-law Roy & Margorie Sedgwick; Sister-in-laws & Brother-in-laws: Edie (Ken) Kingdon, Hilda (Paul) Weslowski; Sister-in-law Jean Sedgwick & Son-in-law Shawn Willis.

He is survived by his Brother & Sister-in-law; Ted (Marlene) Bialas, Sister Sophie Jawa & Brother-in-Law Milton Sedgwick. Along with many Nieces & Nephews.

Carl also leaves behind his Wife/Best Friend & love of over 66 years Marlene (Sedgwick) Bialas. His children, Son Darcy (Lisa) Bialas & Daughter Tracy (Bialas) Willis.  Grandchildren Brennan (April) Willis, Logan Willis (Mike) & Teagan Bialas (Carter).

Carl was the guy you could call on for help at anytime, for anything & he would be there! He was a true friend to so many & he will be forever missed!

As per Carl’s wishes there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside gathering will be held at a later date!
