Cecil James Brock passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 76.
Cecil grew up in Arden, Manitoba, and attended school in Neepawa before furthering his education at MIT in Winnipeg. Throughout his life, he was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. He worked at Shilo Farms, Forest Hills Ranch, McLaren Farms, Midman Farms, and Home Depot, and later fulfilled a dream by opening Sunrise Welding. Welding and design were his trade, and his craftsmanship reflected his dedication and skill.
While he was talented with his hands, Cecil’s true passion was horses. Chuckwagon driving was where his heart truly lived, and it remained a lifelong love that defined so much of who he was.
Cecil was a quiet man, but when he spoke, his words mattered. Known for his sharp one-liners and quick wit, he always had something clever to say and took great joy in making people laugh. Those moments of humor and insight are memories his family and friends will always treasure.
On April 18, 1970, Cecil married the love of his life, Terry. Together they shared a devoted marriage and raised two children, Clifford and Diane, building a life rooted in love, hard work, and family.
One of Cecil’s most memorable sayings continues to ring true for all who knew him:
“Life is passing you by.”
It serves as a reminder to live fully, just as he did in his own quiet, meaningful way.
Cecil will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
There will be no funeral service at this time. A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carberry Agricultural Society.
