Charles Wolfgang Hans-Wilhelm Roeder
December 10, 1959 – November 15, 2025
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Wolfgang Hans-Wilhelm Roeder, who left us on November 15, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Charles joined the military at just 17 years old, beginning a distinguished 30-year career in the Artillery. His service took him across the world—to England, Norway, Germany, Bosnia, and Afghanistan—and he carried with him a lifetime of stories that he shared with equal parts pride, humour, and humility.
In his younger years, Charles could often be found repairing cars, a passion that showcased his mechanical talent and tireless work ethic. After moving from Shilo to Carberry with his growing family, he turned that same energy toward renovating their home—shaping it, piece by piece, into a warm and welcoming place for those he loved.
Later in life, Charles embraced new interests with characteristic enthusiasm, diving into the world of technology, drones, and 3D printing. No matter the hobby, he was always busy, always learning, and always eager to put his hands and mind to work.
Above all, Charles loved his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Roeder (Roussin); his children, Sebastian Roeder and Taryn Kearney; and his beloved granddaughters, Saoirse and Siobhan Kearney, whom he cherished deeply and delighted in spoiling.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held at a later date. In honouring him, we remember a man of service, craftsmanship, curiosity, and boundless love—someone who built, fixed, explored, and cared with his whole heart.
May his stories, kindness, and spirit live on in all who knew him.
