David Erickson Obituary

David Albert Erickson passed away on January 8, 2025 at his home in Carberry at the age of 83. David was born on November 13, 1941 at Tisdale, SK. To Louis and Mary Erickson, a brother for Clarence, Earl and Ron. They moved to the Arizona district of Manitoba in 1950. He went to school at Arizonia.

David went to school in Arizona and then went to work for farmers in the area. He also worked for Manitoba Parks. In November 1962 he married Fay Anderson, oldest daughter of Duncan and Isabel Anderson of Carberry. They had 3 children son Clay (Barb, Joshua &Adam), son Dean (Vadresha, Alan (Tia), Nadean (Eric) and daughter Gayle (Darren Rands, Danielle, Ferlin (Britnee).

 They lived in Carberry, MB, Calgary, AB, Portage, MB and finally in June 1969 they moved to the family farm in the Worby district south of Sidney, MB. where David farmed for 40 years. He raised sheep, cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pheasants and peacocks. He always had a dog and at one time some Shetland ponies.  He also worked at Bailey farms, Nestle Foods and drove a school bus for the Beautiful Plains school division. at different times during these years. He was a jack of all trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

They retired to Carberry in 2008 and he became a Mr. Fixit for anyone. He loved dogs and owned Tippy and Candy when he lived in Carberry. He loved tinkering with anything and was always inventing things. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and an outdoors man. He loved skidooing, camping and almost any activity with his kids. And he was never happier than when he could spend time with his grandchildren Danielle, Ferlin, Joshua, Adam, Alan and Nadean.

David was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Mary Erickson, brothers Earl and Clarence, sister-in-law, Merle, Father and Mother-in-law, Dunc and Isabel Anderson, sister-in-law Ina Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Fay, their three children, their spouses and 6 grandchildren and their spouses, his brother Ron, sister-in-law Linda Baker, brother-in-law Larry (Edith), brother-in-law Neil (Val) and many nieces and nephews. Rest in Peace!
