DOUGLAS ALFRED SUSKI
June 16, 1965 – January 30, 2024
Douglas Alfred Suski was born in Brandon, Manitoba on June 16th, 1965. After a courageous battle with cancer, Doug passed away on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024, at the Minnedosa District Hospital with family by his side.
Doug was adopted as an infant by Alfred and Doris Suski and was raised on a farm near Erickson, MB. He attended school in Erickson and finished high school in Sanford, MB.
Doug entered the workforce and went to work in the mines at Thompson, MB. He relocated back to Minnedosa where he worked for various farms, construction, and trucking companies. His main career though was long haul trucking which took him to the west coast of Canada, as far east as Montreal, as well as parts of the United States. He was employed by Clean Harbors Canada from 2006 – 2013 and was sent by the company to Florida to drive truck for the BP Oil Spill cleanup.
In 2003, Doug married Amanda Stone and together they had two children, Dean and Sierra. They resided in Minnedosa until 2006 when they relocated to Provost, AB. In 2013, after they separated, Doug moved back to Minnedosa and continued his love of farm work and trucking, and he got to do both while working at Kelso Trucking. He was very mechanically inclined, which came in handy with farm machinery and semi-trucks.
Doug had a love of music and was a great singer as well. He was shy about singing in front of friends and family, but would sing at karaoke, some of which he won. In his many trips to cancer treatments and oncologist appointments, he surprised his sister Wendy by singing along with her to the radio.
Doug was an extremely social person, and it didn’t matter where he would go, he would know people, and people knew him. Doug was known for his t-shirts; you just never knew what they might say! Also, you could always count on him for a one liner.
Doug was predeceased by his father, Alfred Suski and mother Doris Suski (Johnson). He is survived by his children, Dean and Sierra, sisters Wendy (Larry) Spraggs, Norma Feser, Donna (Jim) Woloshen, nieces and nephews, and biological sisters Rhonda Martin and Lorna Friesen. He will be sadly missed.
