Dudley Lee died at Country Meadows Personal Care Home Wednesday February 4, 2026. Dad was born May 22, 1923, to Earnest and Eileen Lee on the family farm near Marchwell, Saskatchewan as were his siblings: Lloyd, Esme and Bud. Dad attended Marchwell School to grade 8 and then continued his education in Russell. The family left the farm in 1938 and purchased a general store in Makaroff, Manitoba which included gas pumps and an International Harvester Dealership. When Dad turned 18, he joined the RCAF and became a pilot. Dad went overseas and joined 404 Squadron of Coastal Command. He flew Hudsons in West Africa doing convoy escorts and Beaufighters in Northern England attacking the German navy along the Norwegian coast. After the war Dad rejoined the family in Makaroff and then in 1946 moved to Basswood, Manitoba where Dudley and his Dad purchased the local garage which included the blacksmith shop, the International Harvester dealership and both the Anglo and the B/A fuel agencies.
Dad met Ida in Basswood and they were married in 1948. While in Basswood, mom and dad were blessed with the arrival of their four children, Rick, Yvonne, Terry and Keith. Dad moved the family to Neepawa in 1956 taking over the International Harvester dealership. A few years later, Dad moved the family to a farm near Neepawa where he started a small chicken broiler-breeder operation. After retiring from the implement business, Dad expanded, with his son Terry, the broiler-breeder operation. After Ida died, Dad retired from this enterprise but continued grain farming and making maple syrup for several springs. Dad married Ina in 1991 and they lived on the farm retiring to Neepawa in 1999. When Ina died, Dad moved to Elks Manor where he resided until after his 100th birthday, moving to Country Meadows in 2023. He said it was time for someone else to make meals and do house work!
While in Neepawa, Dad was active in the greater community. Among the many things he did, he was a councillor on the Neepawa Town Council, was Commanding Officer of #9 Neepawa Air Cadets, he volunteered with Citizens on Patrol and he was an active member of the Beautiful Plains Museum Board.
Dudley is survived by: sons Rick (Lynne) of Lethbridge, Alberta and Terry (Diane) of Portage la Prairie, son-in-law Allan Reilly of Winnipeg, daughter-in-law Susan Lee of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, sister-in-law Ann Lee of Brandon, step-son Tim (Anne) Klassen of Toronto, grandchildren: Jason, Cammie, Cheryl, Shauna, Mike, Mark and Patrick; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews across Canada and the US. Dudley was predeceased by his parents Earnest and Eileen, his first wife Ida, second wife Ina, daughter Yvonne, son Keith, step-sons David and Jay Klassen, grandson Stephen, brothers Lloyd (Irene) and Bud, and sister Esme (Glen).
Dad enjoyed an interesting life with many adventures during his almost 103 orbits around the sun! He maintained his positive outlook on life with wisdom, patience, humour and the support of family and friends. He particularly enjoyed and appreciated the many visits by family and friends during his time at Country Meadows. The family would like to recognize and thank long-time family friend Helen Drysdale for her many visits, acts of kindness and support for Dad over the years and the staff at Country Meadows for their care during his final years.
