Edgar Higgins Obituary

The family of Edgar George Higgins are sad to announce his passing on October 31, 2025 at the age of 86 at the Minnedosa Hospital.

Edgar was born December 31, 1938 at Hamiota MB. He farmed at Decker, Beulah, and Isabella and also owned and operated a garage and bulk fuel business named One Shell Plaza in Decker which included delivering fuel to the farmers in the area. In 1977 Edgar moved to Hamiota where his son Jeramy was born. He was employed as a cleaner for several businesses in the area and also as a school bus driver. Edgar moved to Minnedosa in1986 with the love of his life, Phyllis Kenward, where he worked at Mohawk/PetroCan garage, delivered parts for Piston Ring, and also did maintenance at the Hospital and Personal Care Home. When Edgar retired in 2000 he started a rototilling, grass cutting, snow removal and handyman business, which he retired from earlier this year.

Edgar shared many stories with his family from all of his experiences that frequently had us all laughing and smiling. Edgar never had bad word to say about any one, and is known by all for his quiet ways and many winks.

Edgar is survived by his beloved partner Phyllis Kenward, son Jeramy, grandchildren Aydan and Makayla, brothers John (Linda), Mel (Wendy), Neil (Joan). He was predeceased by his brother Bill earlier this year and parents Gordon and Sarah in 1975.

A private graveside service is planned in Minnedosa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Neepawa and Minnedosa Palliative Care programs.
