Edith Eileen Rice

Edith Eileen Rice of Rapid City, Manitoba peacefully passed away at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home on February 10, 2025. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday.

Edith was the beloved wife of the late Don Rice.

Edith was born in Cobourg Ontario, to the late Gordon and Dorothy Finley of Haldimand Township in Ontario. A sister to Joan Chalovich (late George), Bill Finley (Ann), Tom Finley, Mike (Mary) Finley, sister-in-law Bonnie (late Robert Finley), and predeceased by her brother Edgar and sister Marion Finley.

Edith was a loving mother to her 10 children and their spouses. Janice Kanters (Randy), Marion Spiers (late Jerry), Crystal Cooney (Jim), Carol Greer (Jon), Sandra Pilling (Brent), Donald Ferguson (Donna), Ron Ferguson (Marj), Jim Ferguson (Sandra), Brenda Hales (Henry), and Ken Ferguson (Lisa). Extended family Pam Ferguson, Lloyd and Joanne Evans, Paula and Duane Lietz and Linda Ferguson.

Edith will be sadly missed by her 24 Grandchildren and their spouses. Her 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Edith and her husband Don resided in Rapid City and area for 50 years, and had a lot of friends in the community over the years.

There will be no funeral service at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In memory of our extraordinary mother, her spirit lives on in our memories forever. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
