At the age of 95, Florence Edith Vivian (Robinson) Haywood passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home

Florence was born on March 28th, 1927 at her family farm near Wellwood, MB. to parents John and Edith Robinson. Florence grew up in the Bethany and Minnedosa areas where she met her husband, Fred Haywood, in 1942

Fred and Florence sent letters and packages to each other throughout WWII. They were married on September 22nd, 1948 and had five children: Ian, James (Jim), Bryan, Murray and Bruce

Florence worked as a telephone operator until her retirement in 1989. For her role in keeping the phone lines open during the Damn break in 1948 she received a Certificate of Merit for bravery, a silver compact engraved with her initials and a big box of chocolates.

Florence enjoyed her many travels with Fred, from bus tours in Canada, United States, trips overseas to Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, England and best of all, the many trips to visit with family.

Florence enjoyed many hobbies like gardening, bowling, painting and making the best dinner and cinnamon buns around!

Florence was predeceased by her loving husband Fred (2007), Sons Bryan (1958), Bruce (1962), and James (Jim) 2021, Her parents Edith (1981), John (1974), Siblings George (2003) and Marie (2005). She is lovingly remembered by her sons Ian (Carmen) Haywood, Murray (Debbie) Haywood, daughter-in-law Lucille Haywood, Grandchildren Edie (Steven) Dykstra, Brian (Annette) Haywood, James (Jennifer) Haywood, Cheryl Haywood, Dustin Nelson, Michael Haywood & Gracie Koshowski, Justine Haywood & Zane Gwyer, Katie Haywood, Great Grandchildren Tyler (Mariah) Bunce, Shaena (Koben) Bunce, Colton (Emma) Spraggs, Jaedyn, Jenna and Michaela Haywood, Sister Sadie (Bill) Dagg and many nieces and nephews

A private family service was held on November 12th, 2022. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Westman Dreams for Kids Foundation, 404-18th Street N. Brandon, MB, R7A 7P3
