Florence Mary Ripley

Peacefully on Wednesday July 26th (one day before her 84th birthday), Mom passed away at the Valleyview Care Home in Brandon Manitoba.

Florence was born in Clanwilliam Manitoba on July 27, 1939.  She did her schooling in Clanwilliam and then entered the workforce in Minnedosa,  where she met and later married Craig Allen Ripley on August 15th 1957 in Clanwilliam.

To this union brought 4 kids Elaine Louise Allen and David.

Mom stayed home with us kids til we were teenagers and then took a job in the laundry at Minnedosa Hospital, retiring after 25 years. 

In her retirement years Mom liked to go for coffee with her friends, joined curves with Auntie Mary working out once a week. Mom took up painting classes which she really enjoyed and we all have some of her art work in some form at our homes.

 In the summer months Mom spent a lot of time in her yard and also enjoyed visits with Louise and family at the Campground.

As much as Mom enjoyed being with family and friends at the same time was also a very private person and enjoyed the simple things in life. 

In June of 2017, with failing health Mom relocated to Valley View Personal Care Home. She very quickly fit in and was not only a resident but was an employee helping peeling potatoes, folding laundry, wheeling residents around and sometimes just sitting and holding hands of a fellow resident. Mom  enjoyed listening to the entertainment, doing crafts, putting puzzles together and got back into painting.

Mom very much enjoyed her outings when we would take her out for a Sunday supper, a drive around the city and her favourite spot to go was the Velvet Dip for a Sundae. We will cherish those memories.

Florence is lovingly remembered by her children; Elaine Dunn of Minnedosa, Louise Ripley of Brandon, Allen(Jacquie) Ripley of Brandon and David (Diane) Ripley of Minnedosa; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Trevor (Amy) Natalie, Madison and Danika Reid of Winnipeg; Lisa (Ryan) Travis and Tyler Dyck of Minnedosa; Shawn Ripley of Brandon; Danny (Nicole) Ripley of Melfort Sk; Roslynn (Travis) Grace and Lincoln Taylor of Brandon; Branden Ripley and Nolen Ripley from Reston Manitoba; Brothers, Mervin Robertson of Minnedosa; Elgin (Shannon) Robertson of Neepawa; Kevin (Heather) Robertson of Minnedosa; Carl (Iris) Foxworthy of Winnipeg; Ray (Brenda) Foxworthy of Kimberley B.C.; sister Gail (Neale) Daniels’ of Pierson; sister in law Eileen Robertson of Pine Falls and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother Betty Foxworthy and her husband Howard; father Henry Robertson and stepmother Hazel; brother Bradley Robertson; sister in laws, Mary Robertson; Doreen Ripley; Ruth (Tom) Meagher; Jean ( George) Hansen; and nephew Scot Roberson.

A private graveside service was held at Minnedosa Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Valleyview Care Center for all the excellent care mom received over the past 6 years.
