Gladys Ruff Obituary

Gladys Ruff, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Gladys was born on June 26, 1938, in Minnedosa, Manitoba, where she spent her childhood surrounded by family. It was there that the values of love, hard work, and community took root—qualities that would guide her throughout her life.

She met the love of her life, Lorne Ruff, and the two were married, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, dedication, and shared purpose. Together they made their home on the Ruff family farm near Strathclair, Manitoba. They started their married life in a modest one-bedroom farmhouse that was later expanded to accommodate their growing family. When Lorne’s father passed away and his mother moved into Strathclair, Gladys and Lorne moved into the larger farmhouse, where they continued to build both their family and their farming life.

For many years, Gladys and Lorne worked side by side on the farm, embracing the joys and challenges of rural life. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to one another and to their family.  she had 3 children while helping run the farm

Later in life, after selling the farmland and farmhouse, Gladys and Lorne fulfilled one of Gladys’s longtime dreams by moving back to Minnedosa. Surrounded once again by her family and lifelong connections, she found great happiness in returning to the community where her story had begun.

In 2018, Gladys lost her beloved husband, Lorne, a loss she carried with grace while holding close the many memories they had created together over a lifetime.

Gladys will be remembered for her loving heart, her quiet strength, her devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the enduring importance of home and family.

She leaves behind her family, Daughters Elaine (Doug) and Sheila (Danny) and Son Lee  (Diana) grandchildren Breanne, Mavryk, Nova Li,  Brother Gordon and many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her love, guidance, and the many memories they shared together. Though she is deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and in the family she loved so dearly.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
