Grant Carter Obituary

Grant Eliot Carter

May 10, 1962 – August 13, 2024

Grant was born May 10, 1962 to Clarence and Lil Carter. He was raised with siblings: Kurtis, Valerie and Cathy in Onanole, Mb.

He went to Onanole Elementary School and Erickson High School and moved to Winnipeg for further schooling at Red River Community College.

While in Winnipeg , he worked at Lumber/Retail stores in sales. He moved back to Onanole  to work at the Erickson Beaver Lumber which was owned by his father ,Clarence. Grant took ownership of the Lumber Yard in 1992 and sold it in 2015.He moved to Neepawa, MB in 2018. Worked and lived until passing.

He was born into a rural family, with siblings; Kurt, Val and Cathy.

Clarence (father) had also been raised in Onanole and Lil (mother) had been raised in Erickson. We had very close connections with Aunts, Uncles and cousins.  We all grew up together going to the same schools and attending the same events.

In Winnipeg he married Valerie Smith.  And her kids Chrissie and Cory.

And built a home in Onanole.

After the sale of the lumberyard, the plan was for Val and Grant to purchase a small campground. But family events called Val back to her family in Winnipeg. Grant chose to stay in Onanole.

He sold the house and moved to Neepawa. Where he found work and a new way of life.
