Henry Barten Obituary

                                                                                                    Henry Michael Barten

The family of Henry Michael Barten sadly wishes to announce the passing of their husband, father, and grandfather after a fight with cancer at the Neepawa Hospital on Friday, April 28th, 2023.

Henry was born June 3rd, 1954 in Fisher Branch Manitoba. He resided on the family farm just outside of Broad Valley until 1967.  He and his family moved into Broad Valley at this time where Henry received his education from the Mayfair school.  Henry moved into Winnipeg in 1980 and met the love of his life Carmen Tuhacek.  They were married in Balmertown, Ontario in 1981.  Henry's family expanded with the birth of his daughter Mary-Ann in 1981, and the birth of his son Michael in 1985.  Henry worked at the Dickinson gold mines in Red Lake Ontario as a mill operator from 1981-1987.  Henry and family moved to Winnipeg at this time to be closer to immediate family. In 1992 Henry started working for the City of Winnipeg (Parks and Recreation) until his retirement in 2018.  Cutting grass gave him so much joy.

Henry was a caring, and devoted family man who always put his family first.  He cherished the time spent with his wife and children.  He spent countless hours with his two grandsons Titus and Levi, making as many memories in the short time he had with them.

Henry was predeceased by his parents Mary and Andrew Barten; his brother Austin Miller; his brother Llyod Miller; his brother-in-law Albert Kelner; his brother-in-law-Gerald Barber; and his sister-in-law Marjorie Miller. He leaves to mourn his passing; wife Carmen Barten; daughter Mary-Ann Loeppky; son-in-law Bruce Loeppky; grandsons;Titus and Levi Loeppky; son Michael Barten.  He also leaves to mourn his passing; sister Vera Barber; brother David Miller and sister-in-law Alda Miller; sister Elsie Kelner; brother John Miller; and brother Ernest Barten of and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wished to express sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Neepawa Hospital (Palliative Care) for the wonderful care they gave to Henry while he was there.

We love you, and miss you, and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited in Heaven.

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24
