Irene Roena McClay

Irene Roena McClay passed away with her family by her side in Brandon Hospital, Manitoba on November 25, 2022 at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 12 days.

          Irene was born in Kellwood, Manitoba, March 13, 1935 to Richard William and Mary Wilson Stevenson Hamilton McCutchin. Irene lived her early years in Kellwood where she attended school. In her early twenties she moved to the farm of Hector McClay and was married on the farm. Irene started a new adventure by moving to town in 2014 into Kinsmen Courts.

          Irene was a friendly sort and loved life to the fullest, was a hard worker, humorous, and always had a joke to tell, travelling with family and friends. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed meeting people. Irene especially loved spending time with her family members.

       Irene was a member of the Salvation Army, Home League, Orange Lodge, as Past Grand Mistress, and enjoyed her Bible Studies with the ladies. Mom also enjoyed crocheting, but her first attempt was crocheting her first Grandson a sweater in which she was so proud of even though it had one sleeve longer than the other. She learned that she had to try sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it right.

          Irene left to mourn - her daughter Marlene (Terry) McCurry, her son Arthur, (Marilyn) McClay. Her Granddaughters Amanda, (Kevin) Cleaver, and Rachel, (Shayne) Scott, Grandsons, Scott and Conrad McCurry. Irene also leaves to mourn her is her great grand children, Mia and Liam Cleaver and Micheal McCurry, and numerous Cousins and Friends.

          Irene was predeceased by husband in 1993, by her parents Richard and Mary, as well as all her siblings, William, John, Donald, Chrissy, Ruby, Doreen, and Grace, and Grandsons, Jason, Steven, and Darwin.

          The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Staff of Neepawa and Brandon Hospitals, Palliative Care staff, and Ambulance Team for their support that helped in any way. Their time spent with our Mom and their kindness shown to Irene and to our family will not be forgotten.
