Jacobus (Jake) DeBeer Obituary

Jacobus (Jake) DeBeer

July 13, 1933 – May 2, 2025

Peacefully at his home in Neepawa on Thursday May 2nd, 2025 with family by his side, Jake passed away at the age of 91.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Alice. They were rarely seen apart and truly shared every minute of their life together.  He will be missed dearly by his daughters Bonnie (Daren) VanDenBussche and Laurie (Leonard) DeCosse, his grandchildren Aaron (Carla), Kyle (Amanda), Joey (Shilo) and Kailey (Eric).  His great-grandchildren Addisyn, Ethan, Kalena, Carter, Madi, Trista, Jensen, and Llewyn as well as his brothers, sisters and in-laws Ben, Tom (Simone), George (Sandy), Gerry, Annie (Glen) Bernardin, Harry (Val), Helmuth Zeeuwen, Adeline Bouwman (Don), Denise (Eddie) Grift, Doreen (Rene) Hacault and Diane (Real) Simon along with many other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Hendrikus and Maria DeBeer and parents-in-law Jerome and Madeline DeSpiegelaere and by his siblings and in-laws Joe (Annie), Jerry (Mary), Joyce, Hank (Laura), Gertie Zeeuwen, Alida (Maurice) Chevalier, Cathy (Egon) Schneider, Hans (Bev), Debby and Ted Bouwman.

His happiest times were spent fishing with his grandchildren and buddies. He spent countless hours in his workshop with the grandkids building anything that came to mind, along with chatting away about their interests and accomplishments. If it was important to them, it was important to him.

He enjoyed gardening, farming, carpentry and working at Lorne Memorial Hospital.

Dad, you will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
