Jeanette McDonald Obituary

Jeanette Marie McDonald, 82 of Carberry, MB passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer, in the Neepawa Hospital Sunday Oct 20, 2024.

Jeanette was born at the Fox Memorial Hospital in Carberry, Feb 26, 1942, to Doris Annie McDonald (nee Reynolds) and Samuel McDonald. She attended the Pleasant Point school for her early years and graduated from the Carberry Collegiate in 1960. She went on to continue her education in the nursing field at the Victoria School of Nursing in Winnipeg, graduating in 1963 with her RN. She loved her profession and worked in various hospitals in MB as well as BC. She continued her education throughout her career and in 1980 received her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Manitoba.

As time passed, and parents health began to fail, she moved closer to home so she could be of assistance. After their passing she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her friends and the events she enjoyed attending. Whether at the ice rink for curling, the ballpark or the football field, she was an avid fan. She particularly enjoyed traveling to watch World Curling events across Canada and around the world. After she retired, Jeanette volunteered many hours at the Winnipeg Airport where she was a “Gold Wing”. She always loved it when she could be there to see the departure or arrival of her beloved curling teams.

Jeanette is survived by her younger brother Nelson (Alma Jean), Aunt Chris, nieces Annette (Steve), Marcy, Nicole & Dallas. Her sister-in-law Carol Ann (Malcolm 2019) and many cousins, all of whom were very special to her.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Sam in 1998, Doris in 2005 and brother Malcolm 2019.
