Beverly (Joan) Madill nee McKinnon passed away Sept 5 2023 at the Assiniboine Hospital in Brandon, with family at her side at the age of 80. Born in Neepawa Manitoba Feb 4 1943 to Peter & Rosetta McKinnon. Mom grew up in the Ivanhoe district and later the family moved into the town of Arden, where she stayed until moving to Winnipeg at age 17. Mom quit school at the age of 14 when she went to Lake of the Woods Ontario to work in a camp kitchen for 6 months, then would go back home. She did this for 3 seasons. At age 17 she moved to Winnipeg she worked for an insurance company. In the summer of 1963 she met Harold Madill, and they married in May 1965. They had their oldest child in Dec 1965. 1966 they moved to Brandon and Mom became a stay home wife and mother. In 1968 they welcomed a second child, then in 1969 a third and final child completing the family. Mom coached our baseball teams, spent many years in hockey rinks cheering on Murrays team. She loved camping, Bingo, going to Casinos, traveling, ski-doing, playing cards, going to Dances and spending time with family and friends. Mom bowled in a 5 pin league and later in life a 10 pin league. In 2004 mom joined Legion Ladies Aux in Brandon. In Dec 2020 Mom was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. She never once complained about her illness, she travelled daily back and forth to Winnipeg for radiation treatments for a little over 4 weeks. She continued to enjoy bus trips to the Carberry Casino right up till the end of July.
Mom leaves to mourn daughters Beverly (Blair), Cindy and son Murray (Laurel); Grandsons Devin ( Brittany), Robert (Nicole), Brodee and granddaughter Billie-Jo (Lee) . Great Grandchildren, Jax, Deirdre, Jett, Easton and Lincoln. Brother Keith, sister-in-laws Gail (Jim) and Isabelle, many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Harold, Mother and Father, Mother-in-law, father-in-law. Her brothers, Derry, Don, and Lorne and sister Evelyn, sister-in-law Marie, Kay, Femi and brother-in-law Jim and Clarence, and three nephews Kenny, Lorne and Doug.
Celebration of life was held on Sept 9 2023 in Arden. Special thanks to moms closest friends Linda, Gwen and Marina.
