Kathryn Buttrum Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kathryn Lynn Buttrum. On Saturday, December 31, 2022. Kathy was raised in Greensville, Ontario on her family hog and mixed crops farm.

Kathy was a graduate of Guelph University and began her career with the Canadian food inspection agency. Moving later to Maple Leaf Foods, where she spent a near 20 year career. Her journey with Maple Leaf Foods began in Ontario in the hatchery division. Moving later into poultry, where she earned her position as Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager. Kathy transitioned in that role to Maple Leaf Poultry Edmonton, where she gained much respect from her colleagues and senior leadership team. Her career at Maple Leaf eventually led her to Maple Leaf Pork Brandon, where she earned many rewards of excellence and gained the appreciation and respect of the pork side of the business.

Kathy made many lasting connections and deep friendships in her adopted home of Brandon, MB.

Outside of work, Kathy enjoyed riding her motorcycle, travelling and the company of friends and family.

Kathy loved deeply and will be missed dearly by her father Ron, her brother Scott (Roberta). She will also be sadly missed by her husband Dale and his sons Ashton (Rochelle), Delton (Cheryl) as well as their grandchildren, Hunter, Ava and Zyare as well as Roberta’s children, Krista & Jacob, (Noelle) and their daughter, Hazel.

Kathy will be remembered by those who knew her as a kind, loving and compassionate person who always had time to help others. She made many deep friendships that will be cherished by those who were lucky enough to call her friend.

At her request, Kathy’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at Mount Zion Cemetery near Dundas Ontario, alongside her mother, Etelka. Following one last motorcycle ride with her husband Dale, where a celebration of life will be held on the family farm on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Special thanks to Prairie Mountain Health for their team for their care and compassion in Kathy’s last weeks.
