Laurence George Maurice Switzer, late of Minnedosa MB passed away peacefully before lunch Friday January 23th, 2026. He was 84 years old with his birthday being March 15th, 1941. He has moved on leaving his precious spouse Janyce Macey. Three children from his first marriage, Dana Switzer (Kyle), Darcy Switzer (Cathy) and David Switzer. As well as five wonderful grandsons Nathan Switzer (Jenna) , Steffan Proskie, Brody Ledoux (Amy), Dylan Ledoux (Mackenzie) and Connor Ledoux (Stephanie). His memory is carried on with his four great granddaughters Jessa, Madisonn, Amara and Adelynn and one great grandson Daxen. Blended families brought special people to Laurence’s Life. A stepson Ralph (Connie) Riess and grandson Connall Riess, as well as Janyce’s son Tom (Natasha) Macey. Then a special heart adopted grandson Phillip Campbell.
Laurence leaves six siblings, Allan Switzer, Linda (Don) Kirby, Donna Lee Switzer, Joan MacKenzie, Barry Switzer and Karen (Dale) Swift and numerous nieces and nephews. He follows his parents Earl and Tillie Switzer, brother-in-law Ray MacKenzie, sister-in-law Willma Switzer and grandson Nicholas Proskie.
Laurence was born and raised on a farm near Fife Lake, Saskatchewan. He was well known for his love of farming and ranching with horses and helping out on family farms. He worked for many years as a grain buyer and a salesman before he obtained his journeyman electrician license and worked in the mines near Saskatoon in Saskatchewan. He took all of his skills and worked as a general handyman in Alberta till he retired to Manitoba where his hobbies were carpentry, gardening, canvas painting, and some crocheting. He loved to play cards and visit with numerous friends. May his memory live on in all of us who knew and loved him. We will all miss him.
