Linda Gerrard Obituary

In Loving Memory of Linda Louella Gerrard

It is with deep love and sadness that we share the passing of Linda Gerrard, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Linda was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Glen Ewen as the daughter of Roy and Myrtle Hodgson, in a large loving and lively family of brothers and sisters — Eileen (George, both deceased), Clarence (Arlene, deceased), Ron (Kay, deceased; remarried Gerry, Ronald deceased), Lowell (Marion, deceased; remarried Elaine), Marilynn (Dennis, Marilynn deceased), , Verla (Don, deceased), and Mavis (Allan).

After moving to Winnipeg to complete high school at Windsor Park Collegiate and Success Commercial College, Linda met the love of her life, Wayne Gerrard. They were blessed with 57 wonderful years of marriage, celebrating their most recent anniversary this past July.

Together, Linda and Wayne raised two sons, Darryl (Michelle) and Brad (Ainsley). She was an adoring and proud grandmother to Emma (Darryl and Michelle) and Rylee and Masen (Brad and Ainsley) — the true lights of her life.

In the early years of raising her boys in Regina, Linda devoted herself to her family before beginning a successful career in the fashion industry, where she built many lifelong friendships and earned deep respect for her hard work, style, and grace. After returning to Winnipeg in 1989, she continued to thrive professionally taking on more senior leadership roles with several large fashion companies, travelling throughout Canada and the United States.

In 2003, Linda retired from the fashion industry, and she and Wayne moved to Neepawa, where they partnered with Darryl and Michelle to operate a True Value Hardware Store. After several rewarding years working together, she and Wayne fully retired in 2010.

In retirement, she and Wayne settled into life in Neepawa, where she continued to golf, garden, read, and cherish every moment at the cabin surrounded family and friends.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, grace, sense of humor, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at the Neepawa Legion.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Poettcker, and the staff at Neepawa Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for their exceptional care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Neepawa Palliative Care.
