Linda Joan (Northcott) Maliteare of Minnedosa passed away March 30th 2023 at Minnedosa hospital at the age of 76 years.
Linda was born on July 22nd 1946 to Edwin and Sadie Northcott in Minnedosa, MB. She married Robert Maliteare March 22nd 1968. They had 2 children, Trevor and Lara.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband Bob, sister Muriel Currah and brother in law Don Peters.
She is survived by her sisters Audrey Peters, Betty and husband Russell Yandeau, Eleanor Taylor, brother in law Gordon Currah, son Trevor and spouse Mitzie Murphy, daughter Lara and husband Tim Smith, grandchildren Bobby and Elynn Smith, Kendall Maliteare and Maddison Murphy and great grandchild Sophia Leefe.
Linda grew up on the Northcott farm and she learned a strong work ethic from her dad. She attended Tremaine school and St. Micheal’s Academy. She attained her psychiatric nursing degree in Brandon and then in 1984, she got her RN nursing degree. During her training Linda met Bob, a city police officer and fell in love. She worked full time in Brandon and then in Minnedosa at the Care Home after moving to the family farm in 1986. Mom loved to camp during the summer months in Clear Lake with family and friends.
Mom’s love of music first began by singing with her sisters, later with her daughter, as well as singing with the Hunterville, Rapid City and Minnedosa United Church choirs. She loved the banjo and her grandson continues to play on her dad’s banjo. Her hobbies and volunteerism included being a UCT member, gardening, quilting and traveling. Her love of traveling included spending the last few winters in Florida with her friend Claude.
Mom loved scrapbooking which included making many albums of her grandchildren and trips with girlfriends.
We will miss her smile and laugh, kindness and love.
Friends who wish to make a donation can donate to the Minnedosa United Church Prayer Shawl Fund or the Minnedosa and Area Palliative Care Service. Funeral Arrangements were with White’s Funeral Home in Minnedosa and service was held at the United Church in Minnedosa on April 3rd 2023 with Rev. Kathy Platt officiating. Burial took place beside her loving husband in the Rapid City Cemetery.
