LORNA MAE BAYES 1946 - 2020 Lorna Mae Bayes (nee Wright), beloved wife of Gordon Bayes, peacefully went on her journey home, at the Minnedosa Health Centre (Palliative Care) on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the age of 73. Lorna was born in Hamiota, MB on August 18, 1946; the eldest daughter of John & Mae Wright. She was raised in Rapid City and as a young girl, she enjoyed Girl Guides and baseball. She married Gordon Bayes on October 3, 1964. They farmed north of Rapid City in the RM of Oakview on SW 10-14-19. The farm was a central hub for family reunions and other special gatherings. Lorna loved being surrounded by her family and friends for Sunday suppers at the farm. Everyone looked forward to her wonderful meals and fantastic baking treats. The community also enjoyed her cooking talents when she worked at various restaurants in Rapid City. Lorna enjoyed camping and looked forward to her road trips to visit family in Calgary. Her favorite hobby was knitting and it gave her great comfort during her illness. Her highly skilled knitted creations will be long remembered by both family and members of the community. Lorna is predeceased by her parents Mae Wright in 1997 and John Wright in 2008; mother-in-law, Isabell Bayes in 1985; father-in-law Ray Bayes in 2006; nephews, Paul Wright in 1994; Kevin Wright in 2013; sister-in-laws, Myrna Bayes in 2016; Janice Wright in 2017; brother-in-laws; Laurence Westwood in 2002 and Ken Bayes in 2019. She is survived by her husband Gordie, daughter Tracy Bramley and son-in-law Darcy Bramley; grand-daughter Candice Bramley and grandson Ben Bramley. Brothers, Skip (Diane) Wright, Ted Wright, Wayne Wright (Rhonda), Bob Wright (Debra). Sisters; Bernice Newitt (Aubrey), Donna Boles (Rick), sister-n-law Sharon Westwood and numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Minnedosa Health Centre (Palliative Care) who treated her with dignity and respect during her stay there. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
