Michael (Mac) Hofer Obituary

  Michael Hofer was born to Mike and Susie on April 27, 1973. He had a full and eventful youth growing up in Riverbend, surrounded by many cousins and friends, and working mostly as a mechanic. In 1998 he was baptized upon his confession of faith.

 In January 2000, he was sent to Ottawa and was put on the waiting list for a heart transplant, which he received on April 3rd, 2000. In a span of 13 months he lost his sister Elizabeth and dearest friend and brother Sammy. In 2008, he left Riverbend and got married to his sweetheart Joyce. Together they had many adventures, all while gathering new friends along the way.

  Mac was good at everything he touched, and his entrepreneurial spirit culminated in a successful business, Nutrend, that he and his beloved Joyce grew from the ground up. This allowed him to combine his love of people with problem-solving which he was so good at. The business became a gathering place for those who knew and loved him.

On August 5th , 2017, on their 5th anniversary, by the grace of God, he received a 2nd heart transplant. On December 3rd, 2017, he lost his dear Dad and 5 months later his sister Anne.

  To know Mac was to love him. He had many friends and made new ones until the end. His joy for life was infectious and he made the most of the 52 years God gave him. His love for his dear wife Joyce, his Mom and his whole family was evident! There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his people. Without a doubt, he gets the “Best Uncle” award from all his nieces and nephews, who all thought they were his favorite. He took time for everyone. Others came first, his work could wait. Mac was passionate about everything that he did. Most of all he loved sharing about the love of Jesus with anyone and everyone. His testimony of trusting the Lord through trials and struggles with joy and faith was an inspiration to so many. Even at the very end he worshipped to this song;

“All my life you have been faithful

All my life you have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

I will sing of the goodness of God!”

  He leaves to mourn his wife Joyce, and mother Susie; brother Glen (Tania and their children Tabea, Damaris, Naomi, Emma and Jaxon); sister Glenda (Julian and their children Taman, Annika, Carson, Makenna, Mya, and Isla); sister Esther (Wallis and their children Gracie, Cadance, Tessa, and Jacob); brother-in-law Kevin (children Victor, Anita (Josh and their daughter Kaiyah) and Glenn); brother-in-law James (children Estelle, Samuel, Rosana, Abraham, and Lisa); mother-in-law Judy; sisters-in-law Rina and Candace; brother-in-law David (Serena and their children Desiree, Madison, Ari, and Makenzie).

  He was predeceased by his father, Michael, sisters Anne and Elizabeth, brother Samuel, nephews Stefan and Taylor, niece Hannah, and father-in-law Dave.
