James Robert Goossen was born March 15, 1937 in Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Manitoba to Peter D. and Helena Goossen. He peacefully passed away in Country Meadows Care Home, Neepawa, Manitoba on September 1, 2021 at the age of 84. Dad met the Lord at the age of 23 and was baptized by Eddy Boese in Edberg, Alberta into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He was faithful unto the end. Robert went West for work and continued his welding career. He soon gave up his passion for welding for me, the love of his wife, Florence Isaac and on March 11, 1961 we were married. We lived in Edberg for 20 years. Together we had 3 sons and 3 daughters. In 1981, Dad and Mom moved to Kelwood, Manitoba to start new opportunities for their family. Dad enjoyed his farming – grain and cattle. He spent many hours welding in repair and manufacturing. Dad and Mom spent good times traveling, camping and spending some time at the Edmonton Guest House. Dad left a good testimony of thankfulness, perseverance, and a love for singing. He had a gift for reaching out to his neighbors. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Florence, Brian, Calgary, Alberta, Angela and Mervin Wohlgemuth, Riding Mountain, Manitoba, Brenda and Bob Isaac, Westlock, Alberta, Gary and Ruth Goossen, Riding Mountain, Manitoba, Carolin and Lyndale Penner, Fountain Run, Kentucky, Darrel and Jeanette Goossen, Kelwood, Manitoba, 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is the last of a family of 14 children to be laid to rest. He was predeceased by his parents, 8 brothers and 5 sisters. A special thank you to Doctors and nurses of the Country Meadows Care Home who cared so tenderly for our dad. And thank you to all those who showed their support, condolences, thoughts and prayers.
