Shirley Prawdzik Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Shirley Prawdzik on June 10th, 2020 in Neepawa Hospital. Mom will be sadly missed and her memory will live forever in the hearts of her family.

Mom was born in Eden, MB on March 14, 1932 to Walter & Vera Head. She was the eldest of eight children. She met and married Louis Prawdik in 1949 and together they raised a family of four. Louis passed away on July 21st, 1999 just 3 weeks before their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mom loved caring for others and started her career as a Nurses Aide shortly after the opening of East View Lodge. She also worked for Wee Care and finished her career at Neepawa Hospital. Mom always talked about the many friends she made and what a great time they had at work.

Mom was a very talented knitter and seamstress. She shared her talents by gifting her family with sweaters and afghans and beautiful baby outfits. She was also a great cook and we will all miss those family dinners.

Mom will be remembered by her family and friends for her unconditional love and friendship for all who knew her. She is survived by her children Valerie(Glen) Gordon of Neepawa, MB, Barry(Pam) Prawdzik of Hope B.C., Tim(Kari) of Dauphin, MB, Donna Walker of Neepawa, MB, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Her siblings Lillian Radford, Gerald Head, Don Head, Lorraine Lobb, and Raye Head. Her sister and brother in laws, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Lou and her sisters Audrey and Darla.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the amazing nurses at Neepawa Hospital for their care and compassion during mom’s final days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Neepawa Health Auxiliary, an organization mom cared deeply for and was part of for many years.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

So loved, so missed, so very dear.
