Shirley Anne Reidle

Shirley Anne Reidle (née Jones), age 94, of Neepawa, Manitoba, formerly of Brookdale and Wellwood, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows on May 1, 2026.

Shirley was born on July 6, 1931, in Neepawa, Manitoba, to Hilda and Tom Jones of Brookdale. She was one of five daughters, alongside Vivian North (Fred), Eileen Wilson (Albert), Bernice Andruszkiw (Wally), and her twin sister Dorothy Cole (Lloyd).

In Brookdale on August 9, 1952, Shirley married Lloyd Douglas Reidle of Wellwood. Together they built a life rooted in family, community, and hard work.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her parents, Hilda and Tom; her sisters Vivian, Eileen, Bernice, and Dorothy; her son Gary; and her grandson Skylar Enns.

She is lovingly survived by her sons Terry (Marlene) of Morden, Manitoba, and Raymond (Nicole) of Morden, Manitoba; daughter-in-law Barb Owen of Neepawa, Manitoba; and her grandchildren Jennifer Loewen (Jeff) of Brandon, Manitoba; Taylor Reidle of Calgary, Alberta; Kristen Ondrus (Ben) of Sherwood Park, Alberta; Ashley Reay (Stuart) of St. François Xavier, Manitoba; and Coby Dupuis of Morden, Manitoba. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren Brady and Emma Ondrus, and McKenzie, Ethan, and Jennie Reay, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley attended school in Brookdale. Shirley enjoyed sports days between Brookdale, Carberry and Wellwood. They would wear their school colors and chant their school yell. Shirley loved softball and even pitched for the men’s team and won!! Along with her sisters, she enjoyed carnivals where they would enter races and earn money or prizes, Shirley excelled in many sports including softball, curling, track and golf. She and Lloyd shared a love of curling and were well known for their skill and sportsmanship.

In 1951, Shirley began working as a switchboard operator in Brookdale. After their marriage, Shirley and Lloyd settled in Wellwood, where they raised their three sons—Terry, Gary, and Raymond. During these years, Shirley devoted herself to her family, supporting her children in their many activities and sporting events.

In 1967, the family moved to the Tom Jones family farm northeast of Brookdale, where they farmed until 1978.

Shirley began working at East View Lodge in August 1973 as a nurse’s aide. In 1978, she and Lloyd moved to Neepawa to be closer to her work. Shirley dedicated over 20 years to caring for others before retiring in 1994.

Shirley and Lloyd were active members of the Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodges, Knox Presbyterian Church, and the United Commercial Travellers (UCT) organizations.

They enjoyed camping over the years, owning a tent trailer, motorhome, and travel trailer, and spending countless happy times fishing, golfing, and visiting around the campfire. After

retirement, Shirley and Lloyd enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. They spent winters in Phoenix, on Vancouver Island and Chilliwack, BC.

They were wonderful dancers and attended countless social dances all over the area. Known for being the first on the dance floor, they continued dancing even during their time at Country Meadows.

Family was always at the heart of Shirley’s life. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, always welcoming visits and helping out whenever needed. Summers in early years, were often spent at their cabin at Clear Lake, where many treasured family memories were made. In later years, they enjoyed their cabin at Minnedosa Lake.

Shirley also had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in her yard.

In 2005, Shirley and Lloyd sold their home on Emma Street in Neepawa and spent the summer at their cabin in Minnedosa before moving to the Bri-Mont Apartments. In 2011, they moved to Kinsmen Kourt. Lloyd moved to Country Meadows in 2013, and Shirley followed in 2014 to be by his side.

Shirley will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, caring aunt, and a dear friend to many. Her warmth, kindness, and love of life will be cherished and remembered always.

May she now rest peacefully, reunited with Lloyd and may they be dancing once again.
