Stewart Lindsey Lewis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stewart Lindsey Lewis on Monday May 15th, 2023 at the age of 59.

He was born to parents Jean and Bill Lewis on November 12th, 1963 in Minnedosa, Manitoba.  He attended Roseneath School, transferring to Tanner’s Crossing and eventually graduating from Minnedosa Collegiate in 1981.  His passion for farming lead him to obtain a Diploma in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1983.

Stewart married Colleen Polwarth, the love of his life, in 1991.  He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Colleen, and their three children: Morgan and her fiancée Stephen, Gillian and her partner Neil, and Matthew and his partner Syd.  As well, Stew is also survived by his mother, Jean Lewis, and siblings and partners: Phil and Pam Lewis, Heather Lewis, Nick and Nancy DeGraff, and Bob and Dawna Lewis; and all of his numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins.  He was predeceased by his father, Bill Lewis, and brother, Jon Lewis.

Stewart was a charismatic, comedic and thoughtful man who gave everything he had for his family, friends and his community.  Farming was his true passion, and after graduation he worked on the railway as a means to that end; S&C Lewis Farms.  He was a three-term Councilor for the Municipality of Odanah, fundraising chair for MREC, member of the Keystone Agricultural Producers, and co-creator of Stewart Hills Estates.  His hobbies included travelling, hockey, pickleball, golf, hiking, ski-dooing, reading, chess and his 1972 green Datsun 240Z.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday May 25th, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Minnedosa Community & Conference Centre.  The family kindly requests that any donations in his name be made to the Manitoba Farmer Wellness Program @ https://manitobafarmerwellness.ca/donate
