It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Valerie Jean Butterfield, beloved sister and aunt, at Carberry Personal Care Home, November 15, 2023 at the age of 65.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and May of MacGregor, MB, brother Colin of Medicine Hat, AB and great-niece Samantha of Calgary, AB. She is survived by siblings Hazel & Terry, Bev, Bob, Don & Marion, 12 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was born in Portage, MB and raised on the family farm in the Emmeline district near MacGregor, MB. She attended school at MacGregor Elementary and graduated from MacGregor High School. She attended Assiniboine Community College and was employed in numerous places in Portage and Brandon as an administrative secretary.
Valerie was very devoted to her family and took great joy seeing her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed bus trips to the East and West coasts of Canada, camping with family, with the favourite being vacationing at the cabins in Clear Lake, MB. Val was an avid lover of cats and going out for coffee.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the numerous Carberry Care Home staff who provided care and fellowship to Val in the last four years. Val considered this home.
