Victor Ludvik Podruski
Victor Podruski passed away on March 7, 2025 at the Assiniboine Center in Brandon Manitoba, at the age of 88.
Victor was born on September 11, 1936 in Erickson Manitoba, only child of Paul and Mabel (Zatylny) Podruski. He started his education in Erickson School, and when the family moved to Basswood Manitoba in 1946, he then went on to Basswood School.
Growing up on the family farm, Victor loved the land and animals. He enjoyed anything to do with farming. He had a deep interest in farming, whether it was milking cows, tending to the hogs or gathering eggs. He found enjoyment in his chores. His best enjoyment was working the land, from plowing, seeding and to the harvest. He was at home being on that tractor. After his dad retired from farming in 1973, Victor and his parents moved to Minnedosa.
Victor was a welder by trade, employed with a farm equipment manufacturing company called Min-Toba, then known as Agri-Steel and later known as Morris Rod Weeder in Minnedosa. He also was employed at Minion Industries in MInnedosa. Although Victor had no formal training, he was very skilled as a welder and he was often called upon to do numerous difficult welding jobs.
Victor found joy in the simple things like watching sports. He took a great interest in watching baseball, hockey, football and curling. Victor was also an avid bowler. He travelled through Canada and the United States. Summer months found him fishing, going to the many lakes in Manitoba. Nothing like cruising the waters and casting off for the catch of the day. Winter saw him enjoy ice fishing and snowmobiling. He loved reading a good western book and enjoyed listening to music, which saw him become a collector of vinyl records. Later in years, he travelled around the countryside to see the fields flourish from seeding to the harvest. Victor never lost his interest in farming.
Victor was predeceased by his parents. He survived his uncle, Stan Podruski of Center Valley, California U.S.A. and numerous cousins.
At Victor’s request no service will take place. Interment will take place in the Minnedosa Cemetery. Donations may be made to Charity of choice.
