Vincent Albert Saler, of Minnedosa, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 90. Born July 28, 1935, on his family farm in Saler Valley, he was the first Canadian-born child of Matius and Johanna and grew up among nine siblings: Irene (John), Louis (Elaine), Andrew, Mary, Emil (Sally), Vicky, Lawrence, Tony (Linda), & Alfred. He attended Willow Grove School before working on the family farm.
Vincent was married to Francis Betteridge for 26 years, where they raised two sons, Tim and Mark. He farmed grain and cattle for over 40 years before becoming a truck driver with Bradley Sand and Gravel. Dedicated and grateful by nature, he took pride in every job he did.
Vincent took great pride in being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was honoured with a lifetime membership in 2017. He loved visiting with people, sharing stories, jokes, enjoying a good cup of coffee or rum while playing a game of cribbage and laughing with friends.
Vincent is survived by his brothers Tony (Linda) and Emil; his sons Tim (Shari) and Mark; grandchildren Ryan (Stephanie), Josh (Emily), and Jessica (Luke); and great-grandchildren Bennett and Scarlett.
A funeral service was held on November 21 at White’s Funeral Home, with interment at Minnedosa Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Saler, Josh Saler, Shane Saler, Matt Saler, Tyler Saler, and Michael Hyde, with the Legion Honour Guard as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #138 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
